My home away from home

Welcome to my ‘home’ away from ‘home’.  The newest trend on SharedReviews.com (home) is for members to set up blogs (away from home) to make it easier for folks to vote on the many reviews that have accumulated for each of us over the last while.

With over 200 reviews under my belt, setting up a blog for this has been an endeavor – but one worth the effort in order to ensure that my SR friends will have easy access.

Although navigating here may not be any easier than voting directly from the SharedReviews.com site, eventually I’ll be moving to my own domain and will be able to incorporate a number of improvements – until that time however, please accept my apologies for the “logistics” at the moment.

How to Navigate my Blog

I’ve attempted to make this as easy as possible for the time being.  To the right is a Category dropdown list – If you know the categories that you still have votes available in, simply click on one of them and you’ll be able to vote for any category I have written for.  I’ve also included other categories that involve the BlackBerry smart phone where I’ll put fave apps I find and my What’s Up Lex category where anything and everything will appear that I’m either interested in or I’ve found to be worthy of sharing with you here.

You can also begin voting by navigating to one of the tabs at the top of the page.  Vote by Category if you know which categories you still have votes available in – this page provides each category on its own separate page or Rapid Vote if you know you haven’t voted for any of my reviews yet – this page is all in one long group over two pages.  Feel free to Twitter me if you wish.  Now, I’m going to explain SharedReviews to those visitors who may have just happened to stumble upon me … so for those of you here to Vote, you can happily ignore me… thanks for stopping by, you know I appreciate the votes, and I’ll see you all on SR to return the favor!

So What is SharedReviews in case you aren’t yet a member?

Thanks for following me! I know you don’t want to spend a lot of time reading so I’ll try to make this quick SharedReviews.com, lovingly referred to by most of us as SR, is a social networking site that also offers consumers a great deal of benefit.  With hundreds and hundreds of reviews already available and everyone of them written by members of the site, SharedReviews offers consumers around the world an opportunity to search for and locate product review information on just about every thing imaginable.

Categories include Automotive, Beauty, Clothing, Health, Finances and Insurance, Electronics, Computers…well, you get the idea.  No matter what you may be considering purchasing, more than likely someone has written a review about it.

Why Should You Use SharedReviews?

As a consumer, one of the problems we run into is purchasing products that we may not know much about.  SharedReviews allows you to read about products before you spend your money on them.  It allows you to make an informed purchasing decision simply because someone else has already purchased the item and they’ve taken the time to write a review on the product – the good, the bad and even the Recalls!  Checking SharedReviews first will assist you in buying with confidence.

What if you aren’t a member?

SharedReviews is open to the public!  Anyone can search for a product and read the reviews on those products.  Our forums are even open to the public – we are a pretty transparent group and we love nothing more than when visitors stop by to check out a review and end up becoming members themselves.  That’s what makes this site so great.

If you aren’t a member and you would like to be one, that’s a simple matter.  Simply stop by the site, you can tell them Lexxia sent you if you wish, and simply complete a short sign-up process and you’re on your way.

Why Become A Member?

The main reason is because it’s similar to Community Service on steroids!  You are able to help others by giving your honest opinion of products and goods and currently there is also the ability to share in the monthly earning potentials which are available to active members who share their experiences, help their friends by voting for the reviews they have written and earn a little extra money for some of those “fun” things you might want to indulge yourself in.  No, you won’t get rich but you do have the opportunity to make some great friends, read some excellent product reviews and hey…may just get yourself a little extra “blow” money!

Back in 2007 when SharedReviews began they were on a Revenue sharing program.  Stop by the site and you’ll see just how well that program paid a number of members.  In September 2008 a good thing happened – SharedReviews was growing in leaps and bounds and that was followed by the realization that in order to continue to be all it could be, a few things had to be taken care of – namely a new server and some back-end tweaking in order to handle the increase in membership and visitors.  Members voted to go on a Payment Hiatus until the site could level the growing pains to the income.  That Hiatus has been working out exceptionally well and SharedReviews has been paying members owed from 2008 on a twice monthly basis since February. July 1st, 2009 saw SharedReviews back on its feet and ready to boogey and the members have now been back on a shared revenue system since then.  In that month I made just over $25 – not a lot but I also wasn’t one of the highest earners on the site either – but $25 while helping to help others and having fun doing it certainly beats those $1 and $2 surveys that you’re lucky to qualify for – but which you don’t discover you don’t qualify for until you’ve spent a good 15-20 minutes answering ALL their questions only to find out as you answer the last few demographic questions that you aren’t going to receive anything for your time!  Now, that’s always a bummer!

An additional income generating opportunity which has been in Beta Testing since last October, is expected to launch  as well.  This new opportunity is called Bounties!  It’s a unique Content writing service that has taken off and has become so successful that the guys behind Shared Reviews are scrambling to get it out the door in order to be able to bring on board the number of writers necessary to meet the demand of clients that has taken place.  So if you want to get in on yet another level of SR – now would be a great time to do it.

The Gist of my story you ask?

Just this…if you are a consumer and you are tired of buying products that don’t work, that break or you just aren’t certain whether they’d be worth spending your money on…then you want to stop by SharedReviews, search for the product you are interested in and then make your decision – your informed decision – from there.  If you aren’t yet a member, my goodness what are waiting for…the ground floor is filling up fast though so you don’t want to ponder your decision too long   Don’t worry though, we always have room for more great reviewers and you’ll find our Community is one of the best there is.
